2026 Lyman Runabout Specifications

Hull Construction

New Lyman boats are built with contemporary wood composite construction hulls. Wooden boat beauty without the headaches of wooden boat maintenance. This is a marine plywood build with a multiple layer West Systems epoxy and basalt fabric applied in a build up schedule that completely seals all exterior and interior surfaces of the hull. Flotation is provided with closed cell foam sealed below the floor decks per U.S. Coast Guard safety standards. All exterior and interior hull surfaces of the hull are finished with multiple coats of and epoxy primers and Awl Grip finishes. All surfaces, inside and out, are faired smooth before the application of finish colors. Finish colors are Awl Craft acrylic urethane then top coated with multiple coats of 2K polyurethane clear coat for UV protection. This boat is finished in the traditional Lyman colors with a white hull, navy blue sheer stripe and a red boot stripe. The bottom below the boot stripe is painted with Pettit copper/ bronze, 1959 hard antifouling bottom paint. The top deck planking, rails, combing and the transom are built of ribbon stripe Sapele lumber. All exposed and secondary (hidden) surfaces are sealed with multiple coats of clear West Systems epoxy. All exposed deck and transom surfaces are then finished with multiple layers of clear 2K polyurethane finish for UV protection. The final coat all around is hand compounded and polished to a high gloss.
